The staff is very helpful and nice. The okonomiyaki is very good. It is that sort of Japanese pancakes that is made "as you want it". Even though I'm not a big fan, I enjoyed the seafood one a lot! They also have an open kitchen, which makes chefs more accountable. The beef teriyaki wasn't the best one though. I liked how the beef was cooked, but there was too much grease and bean sprouts, making it look like a lot of cooking oil was just spilled on the dish. Sometimes less is more.Overall, the experience was quite nice: fast, attentive and helpful staff. Just order okonomiyaki and don't expect anything from other menu items.

Was a favourite of mine when I was in University in the late 70's, early 80's. So glad to see it is still in business. Do add dried bonito flakes to your okonomi, they make it even more delicious. Must stop there again when next in TO.E N J O Y

Small little restaurant that's good for a quick bite. Space is tight so not good for lingering.Service is excellent. Even though there's only one server, it was prompt and attentive.I ordered the seafood salad and chicken okonomi with bonito flakes. The seafood salad just OK. Not really seafood, just imitation crab sticks. The okonomi was good. I thought it lacked a bit of flavour, but with the fish flakes and sauce, it was yummy.

Cute Japanese eatery that specializes in Japanese pancakes. Lots of different meat fillings to choose from, at a reasonable price point. This is a spot for quick eats, not really a place to stay for long chats.

I ordered the beef and shrimp pancake + yakisoba + plum wine. Everything was delicious! I liked the shrimp okonomiyaki more than the beef. The wait staff were nice. Definitely recommend coming here :)

I always love Okonomi and finally get to try it here! I really the vibe and food here. Its so friendly. Okonomi was delicious and flavour full. Good portion and reasonable price. I had yakisoba too abd that was really good! The downside about this place is the space is a bit small and parking on the street.

I was so excited to try this place! We showed up at 9:31 (yes I checked the time), only to be told the kitchen closed at 9:30. It says on Google the kitchen closes at 10pm (this isn’t that difficult to change), and we traveled especially to come to this place.

Love this place!Food: so comforting, so delicious, so crave-worthy! Presentation is so cute too! Service: very quick and super friendly service! Menu is simple and all the items are a hit! Ambience: definitely still has the 70s/80s vibe but for some reason - it works! It's so homey here and it's Asian comfort food in a comfortable setting - no better pairing for an easy dining experience.Summation: absolutely recommend and I would drive to Toronto to eat here anytime! It's been in business since 1978. That speaks volume!

This place is wonderful. My father first came here about 30 years ago, and it was a special treat to visit here with him. The food is great and the atmosphere is charming.

This place is nice and cute! I definitely feel the Japanese vibe. There could have been more mayo and toppings on top of the okonomiyaki but I didn’t ask if it could be done so maybe next time. The pudding omg you have got to order and try! Trust me!

Reminded us of food stuff we had while in Osaka. The comfort food pancakes were tasty but they were a bit oily. I don't think what's in the pancakes make much of a difference in terms of taste - beef, seafood etc as the taste is dependent on the dough used. It's been around for a while and the place does have a loyal following and a wait can be expected during peak meal times.Serving sizes for their other offerings like teriyaki dishes are generous. Have to pay for green tea though which we found odd in a Japanese restaurant authentically run by Japanese folks.

Small and friendly place. The ambience is great here. Food is absolutely delicious. Had the seafood yakisoba and squid okonomoyaki. Looks like it could be family owned. Great place to eat alone or with a group of friends.

Very cosy, unassuming & authentic Japanese restaurant serving delicious okonimiyake. We tried just 2 pancakes so we’ll go back to try more stuff on the menu

Upon arrival the place is not very inviting, until the waitress approaches you with a smile in her face and takes you to one of the old booths they have. The menu is simple and straightforward! The food came fast and tasted so fresh, homemade! I had the yakisoba and it was really tasty, the portion size is also great! The bill? Decent price, honest! They know how to do business and much better than most options in that area!

The staff barely speaks English. All the customers save me and two others (in a full restaurant) were Asian. I knew that I was in for a treat! Simply GREAT TASTY food! The Yakisoba was some of the best I've ever had. I'll be back to try the Yaki pancakes! Oh, and the servers were very nice, and quick too.

Okonomiyaki :))))) Family run place, you can treat ot as homemade food on the fast food side. I really liked it and will try to do something similar at home. As other suggest - you have to buy the bonito flakes for okonomyaki!

Pretty authentic Japanese restaurant. Brought me back to Japan for a brief moment, but still doesn't compare to my Okonomiaki experience in Osaka.

It is really similar as original Japanese okonomi yaki. Likewise, it is cheaper than other place. Service is great and cozy inside.

Not what I had hoped for. It's just teriyaki sauce without any further flavour. I feel the seared top is overcooked. Can't taste the cabbage or the squid. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like Toronto has any good places for okonomyaki

One of my favourite japanese restaurants in Toronto. The dishes are simple but tasty, and their quality is good. The prices, comparing with other restaurants, are mid-low as you can have a menu (entire meal) paying 12$ to 14$ aprox. Very good!

I found this place a few years back. I keep going there at least 4 times a year. This small and cozy place is well known for Okonomiyaki. There are many meat options for you to choose, I did try a few option of meat and my most favorite is the bacon. I also like Yakisoba, it comes with a scoop of rice. There are a couple choices for dessert and my most favorite is the pudding. This place is Japanese family restaurant on Charles street, around 5 minutes walk from Bloor Yonge station.

Great little restaurant with some great tasting food. It was as good as I remembered from my time in Japan. Though not superior or spectacular in any way, everything here was solid. Friendly and fast service, tasty food, appropriate portions and price. All good. We ordered the regular yakisoba, the seafood yakisoba and a shrimp okonomyaki for two people and it was plenty. Overall, great experience.

I was very disappointed by the below average quality of food, considering how popular this place is. The shrimp okonomiyaki was soggy and they skimp out on the sauce and dont' add any toppings. Yakisoba was no better than food court food with the sickly sweet sauce and short on meat. I was bothered by the use of cheap, tasteless, rubbery shrimp for all their dishes. Prices are pretty decent but you do really get what you paid for.

Great hole in the wall serving authentic Japanese cuisine. Don't go here for sushi or ramen - this place specializes in one thing: okonomiyaki, a traditional pancake made with cabbage, a sweet sauce and your choice of fillings.

I have tried this restaurant four years ago. I was very happy about the food. BUT this time, my experience was awful. The waitress was very rude and unreasonable. She EVEN gave us an attitude. She would not give you a larger table when there were so many empty seats. You cannot have a large table if you are Just a group of two. EVEN THOUGH you can see other groups of two are having food with large tables. It was off-peak and not busy at all. Never come back again.

In true Japanese fashion, Okonomi House specializes in one thing and does it incredibly well. The space is simple and warm and not just because of the griddles that dominate the already small space. The perfect meal to enjoy with a beer or sake or two.

Pretty good place for okonomiyaki! A good variety of available types and toppings, with other options also available if you're not in the mood for okonomiyaki! Reasonably priced and I would recommend the squid okonomiyaki. The flavors are there, but I would have liked to see more. But overall, pretty good and would return again!

Chicken teriyaki is not like before, mundane at best, 3 star only. It has no wow factor this time, meat is more chewy, much less juicy, does not taste fresh. Chef also changed, as I can see from behind the window. My theory is this chef intentionally prolonged the cooking of the chicken, so it has more char, and more importantly to cover up the stale taste from being prepared a couple of/ a few days before. It’s sad to see an otherwise awesome cook dragged down by the bad ingredient probably prepared/decided by others.Stomachs has been a tad of upset the afternoon, however will keep the 3 star, for I still have hope for them.

Great place to grab a bite. The miso soup is really good. The broth is well done.I had the seafood deluxe. Perhaps there may be such a a thing as too much toppings on a dish. It sort of tasted bland as in there were too many flavours that mixed together which cancelled their perfumes so you couldn't distinguish a distinct flavour. Well I probably won't recommend this menu item. However, I think that going with an okonomiyaki that can focus it's flavour in the main meat would be a better choice.

Questions & Answers

They still close.

They're open for takeout and they have set up a few tables outside to eat your takeout.

Still close. See there is ladder inside probably a minor renovation.

I'm fairly certain they can accommodate. The batter has fish I believe but not shellfish

if I remember correctly there were no restrictions on payment methods

Unfortunately not
